Berberis ‘Auropurpurea’– A deciduous shrub, which bears striking purple leaves with small contrasting yellow flowers followed by bright red berries. The contracting colours last from mid spring up until late autumn, when the leaves then turn a brilliant shade of red. This low maintenance shrub is excellent at bringing some colour into a garden and is often used as an informal hedging plant. Its strong thorns deter intruders.
Fruit: Produces red berries in the autumn, providing a food source for birds.
Soil Type/Habitat: It tolerates most soil types and habitats. But for best results plant into clay soils and avoid very wet sites.
